Thanks to the efforts of Care Medical in Portland, Oregon, Sen. Ron Wyden (D-Ore.) will be releasing a letter to HHS Secretary Sebelius that addresses concerns about the competitive bidding program. In his letter, the senator expresses his concern that the “currently structured program will lead to increased government waste and further compromise patient’s access to critical homecare services.” The letter also offers a possible solution to add an “any willing provider” rule to “allow any Medicare supplier to continue providing services so long as they are willing to accept the newly contracted Medicare reimbursement rates.”
Providers are asked to forward Wyden’s letter to their senators and request them to co-sign. Directions on how to contact your senators may be found above.

To add their names to the senator’s letter, ask your senators to contact Mrs. Mary Polce-Lynch, PhD in Sen. Wyden’s office. She may be reached at (202) 224-5244 or mary_polce-lynch@wyden.senate.gov.
Sen. Wyden is a member of the Senate Finance Committee, and has developed a sterling reputation for health care legislation and reform. It is imperative that we gain as many signatures as possible to further leverage our message that competitive bidding is a failed program and will detrimentally impact patients and providers alike.
