Government Relations

Recognizing the critical importance of government relations to the future of independent home medical equipment, rehab and O&P providers, VGM created the new position of Vice President – Government Relations and hired John Gallagher in 2002 to fill this important position. A veteran of the medical products industry and with experience lobbying for independent businesses in Washington, Gallagher was the perfect fit as VGM’s VP – Government Relations.

Since his hiring, Gallagher has amassed thousands of frequent flier miles traveling back and forth to Washington D.C. and coast to coast. He has met with government officials ranging from President Bush to Senate Finance Committee Chairman Charles Grassley, to Majority House Whip Roy Blunt, to officials at the Congressional Budget Office, and many more, always making the case for preserving the ability of the independent dealer to survive and thrive in this marketplace. Gallagher is also a frequent speaker at state and regional associations across the country.
