Parent company Hudson’s Bay Corp disclosed on Monday, April 2 that Saks and Lord & Taylor were hacked by a well-known criminal group known as JokerStash. According to reports, approximately five million debit and credit card holders’ information may have been compromised in the breach.

Health Care is Also a Top Target

Unfortunately, these types of attacks are happening on a regular basis but often only make the headlines when affecting millions of consumers. Cybercriminals prey on both credit card data and electronic protected health information (ePHI) on a daily basis. Health care facilities are a leading target because of the vital nature of information there, including Social Security and Medicare numbers. To give perspective, a patient record is worth $1,000 on average as compared to a credit card record, worth $5 on the black market.

If cybercriminals tried to hack your business records, are you confident that your network infrastructure is secure? If not, VGM Secure Tech is here to perform a free security review and consultation.
