Are you planning a vacation this summer? If so, make sure it’s not around July 1. Or, maybe you do want to run away then, and I wouldn’t blame you! Why?

Well, July 1, 2016, is an important date for all suppliers in the DMEPOS industry. Here’s what happens on July 1:

  • Round 2 Recompete is scheduled to be implemented.
  • Rural rollout second reduction in reimbursement occurs.
  • Jurisdiction B transitions to a new contractor, CGS Medicare.
  • Jurisdiction A transitions to a new contractor, Noridian Medicare.
  • Certain accessories being reclassified as capped rental when used with a complex rehab base have the first month purchase option, and when used with non-complex base, can only be rented even as replacement/repair.
  • Track all CRT accessories used on Group 3 power wheelchairs from Jan. 1 - July 4, then submit written re-openings on or after July 5 for additional reimbursement.

Take another hard look at the list above and determine how your company will be affected. Be prepared because it doesn’t matter where you are located or what your line of products is, you WILL be affected by at least one of these starting July 1.

If you have any questions, reach out to me for respiratory/DME equipment or to Dan Fedor for the complex rehab/PWC areas.

Hope to see you at Heartland!
