As wound care HME providers, there are several important aspects we consider when it comes to selecting our vendor partners for wound care supplies.

We want to choose a partner that provides support for the products they distribute. We also look for the tools, resources, and education that they may or may not provide.

If you’re deciding which manufacturing suppliers and/or distributors to choose as a partner, consider asking them these questions to get a better idea of the support they can provide to you:

1. Do you have a toll-free clinical support line, and if so, during what hours is support available?
2. Do you provide onsite training of your products or webinar training sessions?
3. Are there online or on-demand education sessions available?
4. Do you offer educational webinars?
5. Are product samples available?
6. Do you have clinical tools to assist my staff to understand your products and how they are used?
7. Do you provide Medicare forms?

Keep in mind these questions highlight just a few of the important aspects to consider when choosing a vendor partner, and the answers you receive are likely to bring up additional questions and conversation.

Are there additional questions and concerns you would add to this list? Send me an email  at [email protected] and let me know your process; we’ll be doing a follow-up post in the coming months to highlight more helpful tips when making these important decisions.
