Oklahoma Sales Tax Exemption Bill Passes the State Senate!

Published in Member Communities on May 01, 2019

This afternoon, members of the Oklahoma Medical Equipment Providers Association (OMEPA) gathered at the Oklahoma state capitol to rally state senators to vote in favor of H.B. 1262. This bill will make home medical equipment tax exempt. Currently home medical equipment in Oklahoma is taxed anywhere between 9.3-10.5 percent. The tax rate in Oklahoma varies by county.

Today this bill passed the Oklahoma Senate and is now on its way to be signed by the Governor Kevin Stitt (R). The bill will go into effect July 1.

Larry Dalton, president of OMEPA, said, “It’s been a fantastic day for the DME industry and for the citizens of Oklahoma. This bill will save the citizens money. This is a history-making day that we will not forget.”

This is a true example of what can be accomplished with strong state associations. This accomplishment is due to a culmination of efforts and relationship building with Reps. Humphrey and Hilbert and eventually Sen. Leewright. Congratulations, Oklahoma!
