U.S. House Passes Legislation Exempting Manual CRT Wheelchairs

Published in Complex Rehab on Wednesday, December 12, 2018

Late Tuesday afternoon the U.S. House of Representatives voted to pass H.R. 7217 by a margin of 400 to 11. This legislation contained complex rehab technology (CRT) provisions which would delay the application of competitive bidding pricing for 18 months as well as a permanent exemption on CRT manual wheelchair bases.

The bill now goes over to the Senate for consideration under what is known as the “hotline” process. Senators have 24 hours to reject the legislation, and if there are no objections, the bill will then head to the President’s desk for a signature. With just a few days remaining on the legislative calendar, this will need to be done quickly.

VGM will continue to update providers as soon as new information develops.
