Stericycle Vendor Certification of Team Member Health & Safety Guidelines

Stericycle is the industry leader in collection, transport, treatment and disposal of regulated medical waste and secure document destruction. We are deemed an Essential Business during this pandemic to safely and securely handle our customer’s needs.  

At Stericycle we have developed and implemented internal programs, procedures and policies to ensure the Safety and Health of our Team Members, our customers and the communities we serve. These programs, procedures and policies were written in accordance with CDC guidance and adapted to fit our needs as a unique presence in the marketplace. We have developed and implemented policies and procedures to minimize risks of our personnel contracting or transmitting COVID-19 as they perform their job functions on behalf of Stericycle. To ensure our personnel adhere to these policies, Stericycle provides training and requires daily health and welfare checks prior to beginning work. Our response to ensuring a healthy workforce consists of the following:
 

  • COVID-19 Training: Developed and deployed in March with timely updates based on CDC guidance 
  • COVID-19 Cleaning and Disinfection Procedures: Written to include office areas, processing areas, vehicles, break rooms, locker rooms and equipment that address all touch points
  • EHS Guidance for Using Masks and Cloth Face Coverings During COVID-19: PPE usage to cover face according to CDC guidance
  • All required PPE is provided to each Team Member 
  • Return to Work Policy for Office and Field Operations: A plan to safely reopen our many locations to full capacity in a safe manner utilizing CDC, state and local guidance
  • Reporting For Work is summarized by the phrase ‘COVID 5’: 
    • Inquire: Asks three questions about Fever, COVID-19 Symptoms, Close contact with COVID person
    • Distance: Maintain six foot distance
    • Wash: Wash hands with soap and water or hand sanitizer
    • Clean: Clean and disinfect touch points
    • Cover: Use Face Covering when unable to distance

Additionally, Stericycle has developed an external COVID-19 web site that provides significant information for our customers and communities titled “Stericycle’s Coronavirus (COVID-19) Knowledge and Resource Center”. DMGT041 - Coronavirus (COVID-19)

VGM Education has added a COVID-19 specific course to their learning management system. This course provides health care workers with both individual and workplace practices to help prevent the spread of transmission and ultimately keep patients, team members and the public safe. Click here to learn more.

INF002 – Standard Precautions and Infection Control

Offering access to course INF002 – Standard Precautions and Infection Control at a discounted price of $34 through VGM Education. Current subscribers have access to this course simply by logging in to the system as usual.

This course can be completed in 30 minutes and covers topics such as proper handwashing techniques, clean vs. dirty supplies and how to handle each, proper disposal of contaminated materials, transmission-based precautions, communicable diseases, contact precautions, and airborne and droplet precautions to name a few.
