‘To be singled out as a top provider in our challenging industry is humbling, but also reaffirming to us.'

Norco Medical, based in Boise, Idaho, was named the 2023 HME Provider of the Year at the HME News Business Summit in Charlotte on Monday night.

As part of the HME Excellence Awards hosted by HME News and sponsored by ACU-Serve, Norco Medical completed an initial application and a finalist application, providing information on its financials, quality controls, staffing and community involvement.

“We at Norco are filled with gratitude and are incredibly honored to be recognized for this great award,” said Troy Johnson, executive vice president-medical for Norco. “For over 75 years we have always been focused on our mission statement of ‘Serving you Better’ with our employees, our customers and our communities. This has been instilled in the culture of Norco from three generations of family ownership (Larry, Jim, and Nicole Kissler) and is now engrained in the fabric of our many service-minded employee owners of today. To be singled out as a top provider in our challenging industry is humbling, but also reaffirming to us that a united, dedicated team of individuals with the purpose of taking care of the customer is the compass we will continue to follow.”

The judges for Provider of the Year were Miriam Lieber, president of Lieber Consulting, LLC, and Jonathan Sadock, managing partner and CEO of Paragon Ventures.

“Norco and its team are an exemplary example of excellence as an HME provider,” Sadock said. “The company’s focused stewardship of a patient’s HME needs treats every patient as family. The organization permeates a well-trained, capable and compassionate ideal for the patients and communities it serves. Coupled with their patient-first model, the Kissler family also empowers its employee growth through ownership in their ESOP, in which they share in the success of the business.”

“As a company with longevity, methodical growth and understated excellence, Norco represents the HME industry with heightened professionalism and understanding of what it takes to succeed,” Lieber said. “It places trust and value in its staff as an ESOP with excellent benefits and continued pursuit of growth throughout the western United States. Norco promotes countless hours of volunteerism for many causes, including but not limited to the Kissler Family Foundation. Congratulations to Norco and its employee owners on this well-deserved award.”

Norco opened its first medical branch in downtown Boise in 1989 and has 45 medical branches today. The company also has industrial branches, bringing its total number of branches to 80.

HME News has hosted the HME Excellence Awards since 2002.
