VGM and U.S. Rehab Announce Billing & Reimbursement Seminars in 2024

VGM and U.S. Rehab are pleased to announce a series of in-person billing and reimbursement seminars for 2024, titled “Forensic Denials DME 2024 – Season 3: Episode 1.” Led by reimbursement experts Ronda Buhrmester of VGM & Associates and Dan Fedor of VGM’s U.S. Rehab, these seminars will provide valuable insights into HME, DME, and complex rehab claim denials and the intricate process of reimbursement.

The confirmed dates and locations for these seminars in 2024 include:

Tailored Learning Experiences with Industry Experts

Tailored for VGM and U.S. Rehab members, these interactive sessions will feature a unique approach to learning about HME, DME, and complex rehab claim denials. Ronda and Dan will lead participants in the review of challenging claim denials, treating them as forensic cases. Together with the attendees as witnesses, they will reconstruct the scenes of prior authorization requests and claim submissions, investigating each one to determine if errors were innocent, intentional, or possibly more sinister.

The seminars will delve into some of the most complex denials, including claim submissions, prior authorizations, and audits. Ronda and Dan, along with assistance from Kim Cuce, Director of Business Optimization, VGM Government Relations, will uncover the journey from policy intent to the moment of denial.

Key Takeaways

  • Identify the motive of the contractors when implementing medical policies into prior authorization and processing guidelines.
  • Learn how to conduct a detailed analysis of denials.
  • Determine potential mistakes to resurrect denials.
  • Implement procedures to reduce or eliminate the chance of future denials.

Participants are encouraged to bring their own unresolved cases for analysis by the forensic team, ensuring confidentiality by excluding any protected health information (PHI).

“We look forward to seeing our members at these shows,” said Ronda Buhrmester, Sr. Director of Payer Relations and Reimbursement, VGM & Associates. “It’s been a while, but we are glad to be back.”

“Put your investigation hat on and bring an electronic device (smart phone, iPad, or computer) to help analyze the most heinous denials that you've ever seen. That is if your stomach can handle it,” said Dan Fedor, Director of Reimbursement and Education, U.S. Rehab.
