Congratulations to CAMPS On This Important Legislative Victory

The signing of AB 1794 is another reminder of the critical role state associations play in shaping healthcare policy, removing barriers to patient care, and ensuring providers have a seat at the table when important decisions are made. Legislative successes like this do not happen by accident. They are the result of engaged members, strong advocacy efforts, and collaboration with policymakers to address real-world challenges facing providers and the patients they serve.

CAMPS Celebrates Signing of AB 1794: Expanding Patient Access to Enteral Nutrition 

The California Association of Medical Product Suppliers (CAMPS) is pleased to announce a significant legislative achievement. On September 27, 2026, Governor Gavin Newsom signed AB 1794 (Ransom), CAMPS-sponsored legislation that creates a clearer pathway for directly delivering medically necessary enteral nutrition products to patients in their homes. 

Authored by Assemblymember Rhodesia Ransom, AB 1794 addresses an important issue affecting patients who depend on enteral nutrition to meet their daily nutritional needs. For many medically fragile individuals, traveling to a pharmacy to obtain these essential products creates unnecessary challenges for patients and caregivers. 

AB 1794 amends California's Pharmacy Law to expressly authorize pharmacists, manufacturers, and wholesalers to participate in arrangements allowing enteral nutrition supplements or replacements to be delivered directly to a patient's residence. Deliveries must be supported by a valid order from an authorized prescriber and comply with applicable pharmacy standards of care.

The legislation provides greater statutory clarity for direct delivery arrangements, helping suppliers and their pharmacy partners serve patients who rely on prescribed nutritional products. It also recognizes the importance of home delivery in reducing unnecessary barriers to obtaining essential nutrition. 

For CAMPS, this achievement reflects the association's ongoing efforts to address regulatory challenges, support medical product suppliers, and improve patient access to medically necessary products and services. 

CAMPS extends its appreciation to Assemblymember Rhodesia Ransom for authoring and advancing this legislation, as well as to the legislators, industry partners, and CAMPS members who contributed to the legislative effort. 

The signing of AB 1794 underscores the importance of continued industry engagement in California's legislative process and CAMPS' role in bringing supplier and patient concerns to policymakers. 

CAMPS will continue working with policymakers and regulatory agencies to address challenges affecting the home medical equipment and medical supply industry.
