For more than 40 years, EZ-ACCESS has helped people move more freely through their homes, their communities, and their lives. As a longstanding vendor partner with VGM for nearly the entire 40-year history of the organization, EZ-ACCESS not only brings innovative accessibility and home access solutions to the table, but they also bring a family-first culture, deep industry leadership, and an unwavering commitment to creating life beyond barriers.

From aging-in-place solutions to large-scale accessibility projects, EZ-ACCESS continues to make an everyday difference for individuals, families, and the providers who serve their communities.

Serving the Growing Aging-in-Place Population

EZ-ACCESS primarily supports the aging-in-place population and people living with mobility challenges, whether that need is temporary, long-term, or evolving over time.

Working through a national dealer network, EZ-ACCESS helps providers deliver safe, reliable accessibility solutions that allow people to remain in their homes longer, live more independently, and stay connected to what matters most.

“As people age or experience changes in mobility, our goal is simple; we evolve right alongside them,” said Scott Crosswhite, Regional Vice President at EZ-ACCESS.

A Life-Changing Moment: Jerome Davis’ Story

One of the most powerful reminders of EZ-ACCESS’ impact came through their work with Jerome Davis, former Professional Bull Riders (PBR) World Champion bull rider and current coach of the Carolina Cowboys.

After a spinal cord injury left Jerome paralyzed from the chest down, navigating his ranch and training facilities became increasingly difficult. EZ-ACCESS stepped in to evaluate his entire working environment and home.

The team:

  • Installed ramps and transitions throughout his home.
  • Built a large platform at his training arena, allowing him to coach on the same level as his athletes.
  • Created accessible entry points for his truck, skid steer, and daily ranch operations.

What was once a major barrier became renewed independence, both personally and professionally.

“To see how access changed Jerome’s daily life…that’s why we do what we do,” Crosswhite shared. “It impacts not just one person, but an entire family and community.”

EZ-ACCESS is proudly family-owned and operated, founded by Lloyd and Glenda Everard and still deeply rooted in family values today. That culture extends far beyond leadership.

When the company relocated operations from Washington to Kentucky and Tennessee in 2022, 30 families chose to move with them, which is a powerful testament to the culture EZ-ACCESS has built over decades.

“There’s no such thing as a ‘typical day’ here,” Crosswhite said. “But every day, across every department, the goal is the same: to be the best access solutions partner in the industry.”

Industry Leadership in Accessibility and Home Access

While EZ-ACCESS is widely recognized as the largest modular ramp manufacturer in the industry, much of its leadership happens behind the scenes.

Few people realize just how heavily EZ-ACCESS invests in:

  • Advocacy and lobbying efforts in Washington, D.C.
  • Navigating tariffs, cost-of-goods challenges, and policy changes
  • Protecting access for veterans and aging populations nationwide

“We spend significant time and resources ensuring policymakers understand how decisions impact real people, not just companies,” Crosswhite explained.

This advocacy helps providers continue delivering access solutions during times of economic and regulatory uncertainty.

Embracing the Future of Aging in Place

One industry trend energizes the EZ-ACCESS team more than any other: the aging-in-place movement.

As healthcare systems increasingly recognize the cost savings and quality-of-life benefits of aging at home, EZ-ACCESS remains committed to pushing the industry forward.

“If healthcare fully embraced home access funding,” Crosswhite said, “we could help even more people live happier, healthier lives at home longer.”

A Partnership Built on Relationships: EZ-ACCESS and VGM

EZ-ACCESS’s nearly 40-year partnership with VGM dates back to the organization’s earliest days, making them one of VGM’s longest-serving vendor partners. Over those four decades, both organizations have grown side by side while maintaining a shared focus on people, providers, and meaningful access solutions.

“The value is in the relationships,” Crosswhite shared. “The quality of VGM’s members and their commitment to serving end users aligns perfectly with our mission.”

EZ-ACCESS credits VGM Live at Home, along with events like the VGM Heartland Conference and VGM Live at Home Building Opportunities Summit, as critical connection points for building meaningful partnerships with access providers nationwide.

Crosswhite also highlighted the lasting impact of VGM leaders and team members whose leadership helped shape the VGM and Live at Home communities and their relationships with vendor partners into what it is today.

Looking Ahead: Being the Best, Not Just the Biggest

While EZ-ACCESS has grown into an industry leader, the focus remains firmly on what’s next:

  • Continued engineering advancements
  • Smarter cost controls
  • Stronger dealer partnerships
  • Greater community and veteran support

“Being the largest isn’t enough,” Crosswhite said. “We want to be the best partner possible for our dealers and for the people they serve.”

A Valuable Partner in Home Healthcare

At its core, EZ-ACCESS is just as much in the people business as it is in the accessibility business.

“This is more than a job,” Crosswhite shared. “It’s a lifestyle. We help people regain mobility, independence, and dignity every single day.”

That’s exactly what makes EZ-ACCESS such a valued partner within the VGM community. As VGM continues reflecting on 40 years in the industry, longtime partners like EZ-ACCESS exemplify the kind of long-term collaboration that strengthens communities, supports providers, and changes lives—one barrier at a time.
