North Carolina Medicaid Rate Floor Extended Through 2029

Earlier this year, it was announced that the North Carolina General Assembly has approved the state budget, securing an additional full two-year extension of the Medicaid fee schedule floor. This protection will now remain in effect until June 30, 2029, guaranteeing that reimbursement rates will continue to be set at 100% of the lesser of the supplier’s usual and customary rate or the maximum allowable Medicaid fee-for-service rate.
In May of this year, Governor Josh Stein signed into law HB 696, which gave an initial extension of the rate floor through June 30, 2027. This additional expansion to June 30, 2029, is another huge win for the DME Industry in North Carolina.
This positive outcome was only possible through the hard work, relentless dedication, and strategic collaboration the provider network, advocates, and lobbyists—ensuring that providers can continue to operate and deliver essential care across North Carolina.
