Seat elevation became a covered item on May 16, 2023! The industry fought long and hard for this item to move from the non covered to a covered category. Most beneficiaries that qualify for a power wheelchair would likely qualify for the seat elevation system per the policy as long as it's properly documented in the required specialty wheelchair evaluation. However, the provision of seat elevation on power wheelchairs since it became a covered item hasn't been as expected given the fact it is LIFE CHANGING for those in a wheelchair to be able to safely perform MRADLs within their home.
In this webinar the instructors will discuss proper coding, modifiers, allowables, coverage criteria and how to determine when medical necessity is properly documented in the wheelchair evaluation to ensure qualified beneficiaries can obtain this LIFE changing feature.
