OPGA was pleased to attend the 49th Academy Annual Meeting & Scientific Symposium from March 1-4, 2023 in Nashville, TN, where O&P practitioners, academicians, researchers, and partners gathered to enhance the O&P profession.
“The attendance and traffic at Academy were fantastic, with great conversations had all over the conference, from the exhibit hall to meeting rooms,” said Adam Miller, president, OPGA. “We were also impressed with the very engaged group of practitioners, manufacturers, O&P stakeholders, and students that we interacted with.”
OPGA was busy at booth #302, where members, practitioners, residents, partners, and more gathered to discuss the benefits of OPGA membership and how to take advantage of all resources that the OPGA membership offers. A representative from VGM Market Data was also at the booth to demonstrate how members can access the largest national orthotics and prosthetics claims database, and a representative from VGM Insurance was there as well to discuss their new worker’s compensation program for O&P clinics.
“We had great conversations with current OPGA members, as well as prospective OPGA members,” said Denise Doyle, Director of Business Development for OPGA. “Nashville was a great location for the Academy Annual Meeting & Scientific Symposium!”
This year, OPGA was also pleased to meet the recipients of the Russell Walker CP, LP Emerging Leader Grant and Todd Eagen Advocacy in Action Memorial Grant.
Kaleigh Neely, an orthotics and prosthetics resident with Geauga Rehabilitation Engineering, Inc. (GRE) in Ohio, was selected as the 2023 recipient of the Russell Walker CP, LP Emerging Leader Grant. Abbey Senczyszyn, CPO, with Bremer Prosthetic Design, Inc. in Michigan, was selected as the 2023 recipient of the Todd Eagen Advocacy in Action Memorial Grant. Both grants are designed to provide annual funding to a current O&P resident and certified orthotist or prosthetist (or both), respectively, to attend and participate in two different events that are outside of the clinical setting and realm but are highly important to the O&P profession and the patients it serves.
“OPGA was proud to once again partner with Össur to present these grants to these two very deserving recipients,” said Miller.
Thank you to all those who stopped by the booth to chat. OPGA always appreciates gathering together in person and looks forward to seeing you all again at the AOPA National Assembly in 2023!
