Dear U.S. Rehab Members,

There has been a lot of great development recently with the Functional Mobility Assessment (FMA). This tool is not only a testament to our commitment to standardizing outcomes in our industry but also a powerful means to showcase the benefits of complex rehab technology (CRT) and its impact on improving the quality of life for patients.

The FMA, developed in collaboration with the University of Pittsburgh, is the only provider-centric scientific tool that measures CRT and mobility outcomes. It is instrumental in providing data that defends CRT pricing and validates the importance of Assistive Technology Professionals (ATPs) in the industry.

Recently, the University of Pittsburgh published an article highlighting the association between specific mobility devices and falls, which are among the highest cost drivers and causes of injury and sometimes death. This research underscores the value of the FMA and the data we collect, which can lead to better care, lower costs, and most importantly, prevent hospital readmissions and additional care costs to patients.

Please click here for more details on this pivotal study. It is a reminder of the critical role each of you plays in this journey towards better healthcare outcomes.

Warm regards,

Tyler Mahncke
President, U.S. Rehab
