August Of Action: Your Chance To Connect With Congress

Published in Government Relations on July 10, 2025

It’s time to take advantage of August Of Action—a perfect opportunity to make your voice heard. Every summer, federal legislators return to their home states during the Congressional recess. While it gives them a break from Washington D.C., it’s primarily a time for them to connect with constituents like you.

This year’s recess runs from August 4 through September 1, and it’s your chance to engage directly with your elected officials through face-to-face meetings and local events.

During this time, legislators attend community events such as open houses, state fairs, town halls, and parades. These are golden opportunities to share the challenges and priorities of the DMEPOS industry and advocate for meaningful change.

Ways to Get Involved:

  • Host a meet-and-greet at your business.
  • Request a meeting at their local district office.
  • Attend public events like town halls, parades, or fairs.

These engagements can make a lasting impact and are well worth your time and effort. To find out when and where events are happening, visit your legislator’s website or contact their office directly.

Key Topics to Discuss:

  • The importance of access to quality services and products for Medicare beneficiaries.
  • Requesting support for DMEPOS legislation, specifically H.R. 2005.

How VGM Government Relations Can Support You:

  • Coordinate or schedule meetings with your members of Congress.
  • Provide coaching on how to confidently communicate your message.
  • Offer a full suite of resources on our Government Relations website.
