VGM Reintroduces the Fraud, Waste & Abuse Reporting Resource Center

Published in Government Relations on March 12, 2026

VGM Government Relations is proud to announce the reintroduction of its Fraud, Waste, & Abuse (FWA) Reporting Resource Center—a newly refreshed online hub designed to protect the integrity of the DMEPOS industry and reinforce our unwavering commitment to ethical, compliant care.

Fraud prevention continues to be a top priority for federal agencies, and the durable medical equipment community understands the critical importance of transparency and accountability. While a small number of bad actors have drawn negative attention in recent years, the overwhelming majority of DME suppliers are highly ethical, mission-driven professionals who provide essential equipment and services to patients every single day. VGM remains committed to making that distinction clear to both policymakers and the public.

As the current administration increases its focus on fraud prevention efforts, it is more important than ever for the DMEPOS industry to demonstrate leadership and partnership. By proactively supporting fraud prevention, we send an unmistakable message: Fraud, waste, and abuse have no place in home medical equipment, and we stand united in upholding the highest standards of patient care.

“Fraud, waste, and abuse undermine trust in our healthcare system and threaten access to the home-based care patients depend on,” said Jeremy Stolz, CEO of VGM Group. “VGM is committed to being a leader for the DMEPOS industry, bringing forward practical solutions and resources that protect the integrity of our industry and, ultimately, protect patients.”

To support these efforts, VGM Group has unveiled an expanded and updated section of the VGM Government Relations website, dedicated exclusively to FWA education and reporting.

The enhanced resource center includes:

  • Direct links to every state’s fraud reporting system.
  • CMS federal reporting tools and guidance.
  • Educational content to help suppliers identify, prevent, and report suspected FWA.
  • Compliance resources for suppliers, partners, and stakeholders.

A Longstanding Commitment to Fighting Fraud

Since 2008, VGM has been committed to combating fraud and abuse in the HME industry. Through efforts like the Fraud Eradication Advisory Team (FEAT)—an advisory council of industry leaders—VGM has collaborated with CMS and lawmakers for nearly 20 years to remain vigilant in preventing HME fraud and abuse.

Medicare is a federally funded program created to support the healthcare needs of beneficiaries. Fraudulent activities not only steal from the government, but from you as a taxpaying citizen. If you suspect a supplier, physician, clinician, manufacturer, or any other entity is engaging in fraudulent activity against Medicare, we strongly encourage you to take action and report it. All submissions remain confidential.

Our Commitment Moving Forward

This resource demonstrates VGM’s continued commitment to supporting high-quality, ethical care while working constructively with federal and state leaders.

“Our industry impacts every single American,” Stolz said. “Nearly everyone, at some point in their life, will rely on DMEPOS or know someone who does. VGM’s stance has been clear for 20 years: Ethical providers deserve to be recognized and supported, and bad actors must be held accountable. We will continue to partner with policymakers, regulators, and industry stakeholders to ensure our industry remains part of the solution, and that our nation’s patients can access the quality care they deserve.”

Together, we can ensure policymakers understand that our industry is part of the solution—not the problem.
