Course Description:
The ABC’s of Fitting Basic Foundations of Fitting course is the “Pre-certification” or “Approved Entry Level” course that not only meets but exceeds the pre-certification prerequisites set forth by both American Board for Certification and Board of Certification/Accreditation. This is the course one must complete before they can sit for the ABC and/or BOC certification exam.

Please note, this is a three-component course and each component must be completed to earn a Certificate of Completion and have completion reported to ABC and/or BOC. Read the info below carefully before you decide to proceed with the course.

How does this process work?

It’s as easy as 1, 2, and 3. This course is divided into three components:

  1. COMPONENT 1: Learner-lead, computer-based online training. Experience learning from the comfort and convenience of your computer at your home of office. A hard copy of the computer-based presentation and an ABC product catalog will be mailed to you after you complete this component.
  2. COMPONENT 2: Live, virtual demonstration, product review, and Q and A opportunity with American Breast Care Education and Sales staff. After you complete Component 1, instruction on how to “attend” any of the following dates will be emailed to you: Thursday, October 1, 2020 from 1 PM ET to 3 PM ET, Thursday, November 5, 2020 from 1 PM ET to 3 PM ET or Thursday, December 3, 2020 from 1 PM ET to 3 PM ET. You only need to attend once. You will need access to a computer or smart device as Zoom technology will be utilized for this component of the course.
  3. COMPONENT 3: Live, virtual competency evaluation with a member of the ABC Education staff. After you complete Component 2, instructions on how to set an appointment and what the expectations are for this component will be emailed to you. You will need access to a computer or smart device with a microphone and camera as Zoom technology will be utilized for this component of the course. A Certificate of Completion will be emailed to you after you complete this component and your completion will be reported to ABC and BOC.

I need to get certified. Is this the required, prerequisite course I must complete before I can sit for the ABC and/or BOC Certification Exam?

YES! This course meets all ABC- and BOC-approved mastectomy fitter pre-certification education course requirements.

How long will it take me to complete this course?

You can access this computer-based online training course as often as you like. Each leaner is different and will progress at their own pace, but please budget a total of 8-10 hours to complete Component 1. (Remember, this was a 9-hour live course!) You can log in and log out at your leisure until you complete Component 1.

CEU Information:
ABC Credits: 8 (7 S and 1 B Cat II)
BOC Credits: 9 (8.75 S and .25 B)

If you are already certified, your completion of this course will automatically be reported to ABC and/or BOC monthly as they only post distance learning CEUs monthly. This mean CEUs will not immediately post to your ABC and/or BOC account after your completion this course. Please contact ABC and/or BOC directly regarding the posting of your CEUs. If you are not certified, you will not receive CEUs because this is a prerequisite-to-certification course. However, your completion of this course will be reported to both ABC and BOC.
