Spreading Awareness: Highlights from Breast Cancer Awareness Month Celebrations

Celebrating Breast Cancer Awareness Month throughout October is an excellent opportunity for women's health providers and boutiques to get in front of their customers to highlight their key services and products, raise awareness about breast cancer, and promote early detection and prevention.

Many Essentially Women (EW) members hosted or participated in several events throughout October in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and we are excited to share a few of the great ways our EW members were active throughout their communities.

Media Spotlight

Second Act Cancer Recovery Boutique was featured in a news segment with Lauren Petty of NBC5 Chicago. The interview was with founder and certified mastectomy fitter, Pattie Cagney Sheehan, and their client, Jen Parsio. Together, they discussed post-mastectomy options and how Second Act Cancer Recovery Boutique is dedicated to guiding women on their path forward.

Milestone Celebration

The Knoxville Comprehensive Breast Center (KCBC)’s Unique Boutique has been open since 2012 and now has two full-time and one part-time certified fitters on staff. This October, they had the privilege of celebrating their founder, CEO/Medical Director, Dr. Kamilia Kozlowski, as The Knoxville Comprehensive Breast Center has been open for 40 years. The event was not only a tribute to this milestone but also a heartfelt nod to Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and a great time was had by all.

Community Engagement

A New Dawn Mastectomy Boutique participated in a local event on Sanibel Island, FL, hosted by a local organization called “PINK OUT.” This exceptional group provides invaluable support to local women navigating through breast cancer. They make a profound difference in their community, and New Dawn Mastectomy was honored to be part of this event.

Education

Terry Scott of Perfect Match Boutique in Pennsylvania spent the month of October participating in multiple activities to educate women about all that is out there when it comes to women’s health products and services.

In addition to being interviewed and featured on the local nightly news about the resources available for breast cancer survivors after surgery, Perfect Match Boutique also participated in their state's annual Breast Care Coalition Conference, where about 600-800 women were in attendance. They also held presentations at a fundraiser and at a local gym that was holding a breast cancer event.

Education

From impactful media interviews disseminating crucial information about breast cancer, to hosting internal celebrations and participating in local events, these community initiatives are a powerful way to build awareness for breast cancer and market your business. Thank you to all those who contributed to Breast Cancer Awareness Month-related activities, playing a pivotal role in advancing women's health and breast cancer awareness.
