OPGA Supports "So Every BODY Can Move" to Champion Accessible Prosthetic and Orthotic Care Through Hood To Coast 2023 Relay

OPGA, the largest network of O&P facilities in the nation, is proud to announce its support for the cause championed by "So Every BODY Can Move," an organization dedicated to ensuring individuals with limb loss and limb difference can access life-changing prosthetic and orthotic care. The collaboration aims to address the pressing issue of inadequate insurance coverage that hinders thousands of individuals from embracing physical activity and mobility.

A substantial number of individuals are denied the opportunity to lead active lives due to the unaffordability and inaccessibility of crucial prosthetic and orthotic care. Through a series of state-by-state legislative actions, "So Every BODY Can Move" is working tirelessly to expand access to these essential medical services, enabling everyone to enjoy the benefits of physical activity. To show their support and commitment to the profession, OPGA is honored to be supporting the prestigious 198-mile, 36-hour Hood To Coast Relay taking place on August 25th-26th, 2023. This event serves as a platform to raise awareness and vital funds that will drive the movement for disability rights and fuel the ongoing legislative changes across the nation.

"We strongly believe that physical activity is a right, not a privilege," affirmed Adam Miller, President, OPGA. "Our support of 'So Every BODY Can Move' reflects our dedication to ensuring that all individuals, regardless of their physical abilities, have the means to live active and fulfilling lives."

Every dollar raised through this initiative will be channeled back to support "So Every BODY Can Move," aiding their ambitious goal of achieving legislative change in 28 states by the time the Paralympics and Olympics grace the United States in Los Angeles in 2028. The rallying cry is clear: "28x28" – a call to pass the necessary legislation and transform the landscape of accessibility and opportunity for those with limb loss and limb difference.

"We encourage you to join us in this mission for change," urged Miller. "Your contribution, no matter how big or small, will help us dismantle barriers, empower lives, and create a more inclusive society."
