VGM Government Relations team members joined industry leaders in Washington, D.C., this week for a series of impactful advocacy events, including the 2026 AAHomecare Legislative Conference, NCART Legislative Conference, and the AAHomecare Payer Relations Council meeting.
Throughout the week, the team engaged with lawmakers and other industry advocates, supported key policy priorities, and helped elevate awareness of the critical role DMEPOS providers play in delivering patient care nationwide.
Engaging with Lawmakers at the 2026 AAHomecare Legislative Conference
The VGM Government Relations team was on Capitol Hill this week participating in the 2026 AAHomecare Legislative Conference, joining industry leaders to advocate for the DMEPOS community and the patients they serve.
During the visit, the team met with all four Iowa House offices, including Representatives Mariannette Miller-Meeks and Randy Feenstra, the lead Republican sponsors of H.R. 2005, the DMEPOS Relief Act. They also connected with the offices of Senators Chuck Grassley and Joni Ernst. Discussions focused on current industry challenges, including recent moratoriums impacting both DME and home health providers announced earlier this week, as well as broader legislative priorities affecting access to care.
The evening prior, the team attended an event for Congressman Dan Meuser, a consistent supporter of CRT legislation. In addition to congressional meetings, the VGM team engaged with industry partners and stakeholders to continue advancing key policy initiatives and elevating awareness of ongoing issues facing providers.
NCART Hosts Successful Legislative Conference and Product Expo
Immediately preceding the AAHomecare event, the National Coalition for Assistive & Rehab Technology (NCART) held its own Legislative Conference, bringing providers to Capitol Hill to meet directly with lawmakers.
A highlight of the week was NCART’s Product Expo, where members of Congress and their staff had the opportunity to see and learn about custom wheelchair technology firsthand. The event provided valuable insight into the importance of Complex Rehab Technology (CRT) and the need for continued legislative support.
Strategizing with Industry Advocates at the AAHomecare Payer Relations Council
VGM Payer Relations joined other DMEPOS advocates to address key payer-related issues impacting the DMEPOS industry. The council covered a broad range of payer-related topics and resources to support DMEPOS provider advocacy efforts and strengthening patient access to continued quality care.
Industry Momentum and Advocacy Continue
Reflecting on the week, VGM Group leaders emphasized both the progress made and the work still ahead.
“While we received great news with the advancement of the Choices in Mobility Act, there is still much to be done on Competitive Bidding, DMEPOS Relief, and the SOAR Act,” said Ike Isaacson, SVP of Government & Regulatory Relations. “We’re proud to stand alongside so many dedicated advocates working to ensure patients maintain access to essential care.”
Adam Miller, VP of Government Relations, echoed that sentiment, highlighting the resilience of the industry in the face of ongoing challenges such as reimbursement pressures and regulatory changes.
“I continue to be encouraged by the strength of our providers and stakeholders,” said Miller. “Their passion, creativity, and commitment to patient care are what drive this industry forward. At VGM Group, we are proud to advocate alongside them and ensure policymakers understand the critical role DMEPOS plays in healthcare.”
